This event provides students and designers the opportunity to showcase their innovative designs in immersive environments, leveraging the latest 3D technologies. Digital Jewellery Week is committed to breaking economic barriers and enabling designers to enter the jewellery industry. The competition is dedicated exclusively to students, allowing them to present one jewel each and take part in the firstever online jewellery competition. Leeto Journey Beyond Jewellery Exhibition Leeto /li-e-to/: Journey Beyond illustrates how ten UJ Jewellery Alumni have navigated the complexities of our competitive industry over the last decade. Thirty years on, our struggling democracy is no longer regarded as the Rainbow Nation. Amidst the ongoing recessions following the global COVID-19 pandemic, many jewellery businesses in Johannesburg and nationally have struggled. Despite this challenging context, this group of designers has flourished and succeeded at all costs, thriving in the heart of the City of Gold. “Leeto” tells a story of talent, sacrifice, and resilience, showcasing how these artists have dared to dream big and journey beyond their circumstances.
