Level 2 tutor training
Synchronous online training on Blackboard Collaborate
Topics covered included:
Grey & Osborne (2020) highlight the importance of tutors participating in training and continuously paying attention to their own professional development. Level 2 and 3
tutor training builds on level 1 tutor training and allows for professional growth for tutors. In the level 2 training, tutors are given the opportunity to reflect on their first year of tutoring (this was especially relevant when reflecting on online tutoring in 2020). Discussion in the training required tutors to consider differentiating between effective tutoring in a face-to-face and online environment.
The synchronous online training is the focal point of the tutor support as the tutors are given access to the
BB community and the online training once they have attended this training.

Level 2 tutors are expected to review their level 1 training by completing an activity relating to the Tutor Lingo videos. PowerPoint presentations are centred around topics relating to support for tutors (referral skills) and subject specific learning strategies.
