Student learning outcomes included the following: The UJ students produced eight digital and printed posters of the Photovoice interviews, which were shown and approved by the participants at the colloquium and printed as large A1 banners that were sent to Documenta for the exhibition and Summer School. Students also made a collective artwork, inspired by this exchange with reclaimed waste for the Documenta-15 exhibition. Completed project of UJ printmaking students in partnership with third-year APS students. 1. 2. 3. Students from UJ and APS conducted research, collected waste materials, and worked in five teams of four to five students each (18 students). Students collectively developed group drawings and developed a series of stories that guided their combined images. UJ and APS third-year students learnt green, non-toxic etching processes, using copper sulphide salts on re-claimed waste aluminium or metal sheets, which they printed, using etchings and screen-prints. 4. 5. 6. Group prints were folded into artists books that visually respond to the stories, to honour the activities of the wastereclaimers in the city of Joburg. The student work travelled from Documenta-15 to two more international venues in Germany and Switzerland, before returning to South Africa.
