Benefits of using videos for engineering praxis for teaching and learning Macro viewing angles and immediacy Close-up practical demonstrations that take place in person with many students are challenging and time consuming since much of the technique needs to be shown on a one-to-one basis. Even with a small group of students, not all students can get within 50 cm of a demonstration which is problematic particularly when demonstrations include hand skills and small movements. This means that most students will not see the in-person demonstration clearly. A further challenge is that in many electrical engineering laboratories, there is no media system to show the demonstration on a screen. A feature of high-resolution videos is that they offer close viewing angles. This was one of the benefits that students noted in their responses. The use of highresolution imagery assists in showing the students the intricate steps. For example, in Figure 3 a close-up view of wiring a plug pin is shown.
