Our full professors and associate professors contributed 281 ROUs (38.5%). This is followed by senior lecturers, and lecturers who produced 147 ROUs (20%). Our master’s and doctoral student produce 104 ROUs (14%). Our postdoctoral research fellows produce 98 ROUs (13.5%). The rest of the research is produced by special appointments (102 or 14%). This indicates that most research output units are published in internationally indexed journals. The significant presence in internationally indexed platforms reflects the CBE’s commitment to produce high quality, peer-reviewed research output. These research output units strengthen the credibility, visibility and potential citation for the CBE. It also strengthens CBE’s contribution to national and regional policy debates as well as global academic discourse. These research output units play a role in attracting postgraduate students, external funding, strategic partnerships, which will in turn improve the reputation of the university. Additionally, it is a demonstration of the CBE’s regional and global relevance. It ensures that the scholarship of CBE contributes to addressing the research priorities of the African continent and other emerging economies, as well as to global scholarship.
