QUESTION ASKED
3.
The new internal review process was customised for preparations for upcoming accreditation visits. What was your overall experience of the new quality review process in this regard? Did it provide useful information and assistance in preparing for or responding to professional body requirements, etc?
RESPONSE (summarised)
• The overall experience was excellent and greatly assisted us in refining our LOs and objectives for our current programme review.
• It provided useful information, guidance and assistance.
• Very user-friendly
• I have not been part of the previous programme reviews, however, I did hear that they were quite intimidating, tedious and stressful. Although this programme review process did require a lot of work, I learnt a lot about the programme that I was unaware of.
• Engage with service module lecturers and get their perspectives
• The three separate workshops used a very hands-on approach that made the process less intimidating. It fostered a lot of discussion between academics and we identified many pertinent issues.
• As a programme manager, I did not feel lost or alone in the process. CAPQP was willing to guide and support me every step of the way.
• The previous programme review process was tedious and did not always allow for ‘actionable’ changes. The current process meant that more discussions were held with key role players and that collaboration and understanding between the lecturers, programme coordinators, etc. took place.
• The previous process seemed like a ‘tick box’ exercise.
• The new process is much more streamlined, focused and user-friendly. The Centre for Academic Planning and Quality Promotion is extremely supportive and helpful, which assists in navigating the new process.
• It is a more accommodating and progressive approach, and not a judgmental one as the previous process.
• Quite straight forward with clear mandate and well-structured in terms of the phases/workshops of the programme review
To streamline our processes and make them more user-friendly and effective,
we continue sharing our experiences with colleagues in other institutions both locally and internationally.
