Gloria Castrillon
Gloria Castrillón is the Director of the Centre for Academic Planning and Quality Promotion (CAPQP) at the University
of Johannesburg. She worked for Milpark Education for ten years prior to this as Director of Academic Affairs. She has been working in the field of quality assurance, actively engaged with accreditation and other higher education issues since 2001 across both the private and public sectors. She has experience in accreditation, national review, audit and in internal quality assurance. Gloria has served on the CHE’s Accreditation Committee and continues to participate actively in different regulatory and compliance contexts. She is currently the chair of the CHE Working Group for QA Standards and Capacity Development. She writes on higher education regulation and policy and is a Research Associate in the UJ Faculty of Education.
Mthuthuzeli Vongo
Mthuthuzeli Vongo is the Coordinator (Quality Promotion) in the Centre for Academic Planning and Quality Promotion at
the University of Johannesburg (since May 2011). For three
of his 11 years at the University of Johannesburg, he took up
a role as project manager at the Transformation Unit, now
the Transformation Division. Previously, he was an Academic Planning Specialist (UWC) and a lecturer in various South
African institutions of higher learning. He has an MEd in English Language Teaching (Rhodes University: 2006) and is currently enrolled in a Master’s of Philosophy in Personal and Professional Leadership at the University of Johannesburg. His research interests include the student voice in quality review processes, academic programme management in higher education and leadership.
