In a rather unpredictable future where we will probably teach online to a large extent for some time to come, we will be challenged to increasingly reaffirm a social presence online, or else risk losing disengaged students who feel detached and lack the motivation to study in isolation. Correspondingly, my constructivist pedagogical roles, such as playful performer and 4IR cyborg, may be helpful to establish a social presence that is welcoming, engaging and caring.
