In the words of Achille Mbembe, universities should break “the cycle that tends to turn students into customers and consumers”, which leads the students to “have become interested less and less in study and knowledge for its own sake and more and more in the material payoff, or utility, which their studies and degree have on the open market” (2016, p. 31).
