Feedback from students • In my view, writing tables as well as videos accompanying this makes it easier for students than writing on paper and displaying it. Writing tables make deleting or erasing content easy, and the same part of the writing table after erasing content may be used. Different colours also play a huge role in assisting students to understand concepts. • The use of writing tablets and videos greatly benefitted me as a student for the Digital Systems 2B module. I would be very grateful if it could be always improvised. • From the observations I made during the lecture times I can say that since the lecturer has started using the wring tablet it is easier for him to write clearly and legibly. I for one can see his writings a whole lot better and no longer struggle to read what is written. The writing tablets also make his drawings more neat than before. Lastly the writing tablets has reduced the writing errors that would normally happen whenever he was writing or drawing and that has reduced the amount of time he would spend erasing the error and writing again which means we have more time for lectures. • I find the tablet useful as it offers both the students and the lecturer the opportunity to experience lesions in a conventional way but with added benefits. It works as a board (when the screen is projected) that the lecturer can use to demonstrate examples in a “chalk board” like manner but with the added benefits of being able to record and save these examples in a digital format with audio to help us as students backtrack on previous lessons. I see no disadvantages to using it. I give it a thumbs up. • I’ll start off by saying during class or lectures, it kept student fully engaged. What was being taught would be displayed on the screens of the computers installed in the labs where the lecture would be held, where each and every student had access to a computer. Since there are a number of students in class whenever a lesson was given, this system of writing tablets and videos made it possible for equal distribution of what was being taught in class, not only those who sat in front of the class would properly hear what was being explained but everyone did. Writing tablets make it easier for the lecturers also to do their work. Enabling them to carry as many textbooks or documents to give out a lesson in one device is more than convenient to lecturers. The only problem with these devices is they are a bit sluggish which might be caused by the model type of the tablets or not enough storage space on the devices. But other than that, they surely better the process of learning in class, and if more of these were implemented, a huge difference would be made in the learning system used at UJ.
