We congratulate all the graduates on this incredible achievement and look forward to seeing the positive impact they will undoubtedly make in the retail industry. Youth Voices Amplified Podcast The "Youth Voices Amplified" episode of the "Empowering Retail for a Better Tomorrow" podcast series provided an insightful look into the experiences and growth of young retail leaders navigating their professional journeys. Youth Project participants, Dr. Semona Pillay and Sandile Maseko hosted Mthabsi Ndlovu and Qaqamba Marele. These students who completed the Youth Employment Project are now beneficiaries of the W&R Leadership Chair Bursary. In the inaugural episode of the “Empowering Retail for a Better Tomorrow” podcast series for 2024, titled “Youth Voices Amplified,” we had the privilege of hearing firsthand from these inspiring students. They shared their experiences, and invaluable insights alongside Mr. Sandile Maseko, who played a pivotal role in their mentorship. The podcast provided insight into the challenges students face while completing youth programmes, the motivators and driving forces that keep them committed to the programme, and how they adapt to the workplace while balancing their UJ studies. He spoke passionately about the importance of leadership in shaping retail’s future, emphasising that the graduates are now part of this dynamic transformation. In addition to discussing the initiative’s objectives, Mr. Mkhwanazi offered wisdom on life beyond academics. He encouraged the graduates to remain resilient, embrace challenges, and continuously strive for personal and professional growth. His words resonated deeply with the audience, offering inspiration not only for the graduates but for everyone present.
