Op-eds and policy briefs CCRED continues to leverage internal and external experts to stimulate strategic debate and conversations through Op-eds on industrial policy and competition using insights and findings from various past and present research programs underway. In 2024, the following Op-eds and Policy Briefs were finalised: 1. Landani, N., Roberts, R., and Shedi, O. (2024) Malawi and maize: prices have spiked on the back of bad weather and trade bans. The Conversation 2. Oxfam Op-ed 1: Bosiu, T (2024). Contract farming in South Africa’s poultry industry – An avenue for transformation and inclusion of SMMEs or a mere exploitative tool? Fair for All: Inclusive and sustainable gender transformative value chains. 3. Oxfam Op-ed 2: Bosiu, T (2024). Strategic and targeted funding matters for meaningful empowerment of SMMEs in South Africa’s agricultural value chains. 4. 3 policy briefs were completed as part of the IDTT/TIPS portfolio of work and a further 3 market briefs have been completed as part of the EUGMT project, with 3 more that will be finalised by December 2024.
