She is only the second scholar from Africa to have won the award. Ms Nokulinda Ngwenya from the School of Economics won the prestigious Employment Services of South Africa (ESSA) Founders’ Medal for best paper in Economics, titled ‘Understanding the impact of the informal sector on economic growth and employment in South Africa: An empirical analysis’.
