College of Business and Economics | Annual Report 2023 81 NATIONAL AND GLOBAL FOOTPRINT The Head of the Centre has had the opportunity to take part in various international events, including being a mentor and judge at the BRICS Skills Challenge. The Technopreneurship Centre’s impressive achievements have gained recognition on both national and global platforms. We have been featured in UJ Communication, ITWeb, and social media. We are proud to have hosted several national hackathons, including ones with Youth ICT Council, NEMISA and Geekulcha, as well as with Tata Consulting Services (TCS), Discovery, MTN, and African Bank. These events aim to tackle issues like unemployment and social challenges. Moreover, we have been actively involved in mentoring and coaching tech startups. This includes events like the African Bank Hackathon, the Circular Economy Hackathon (December 2023), the GirlCode Hackathon (August 2023), and the MTN Business Hackathon (September 2023).
