College of Business and Economics | Annual Report 2023 64 NATIONAL, CONTINENTAL, AND INTERNATIONAL FOOTPRINT Nationally, the Centre has fostered a working relationship with SALGA for the professionalisation of the public service. The Centre hosts a senior research associate, Dr Michael Addaney from Ghana, and visiting professor, Prof Michiel de Vries from Radbound University in the Netherlands. Dr A Gwiza, a postdoctoral fellow in the Centre, is from Marondera University in Zimbabwe. Additionally, the Centre was instrumental in signing a memorandum of understanding with Wuhan University in China. WAY FORWARD Centres and research hubs find that their student base is being eroded due to student debt. A possible way forward is that the University solicit funds to assist needy students so that they could register in the Centre programmes. The Centre tries to assist a small cohort of deserving students with bursaries; however, most of the students who wish to access the programmes cannot because of funding. The Centre for PMG programmes is developed in a unique way in that qualifying students can access the second year BA programmes at the SWC.
