29 Dr Thabang Mofokeng wins ‘best paper’ award at the 2023 GBATA conference The 24th annual international conference of the Global Business and Technology Association (GBATA), themed “Embracing the positive impact of disruption in the field of futurism”, held in Prague from July 11 to 14, 2023, celebrated the remarkable achievements of academics from around the world. Huge congratulations to Dr Thabang Mofokeng, senior lecturer at the Department of Marketing Management, who garnered significant recognition by being awarded the prestigious Best Paper award for his outstanding contribution to the field of marketing. The winning paper, entitled Interinteractions of ethical marketing scale with customers’ demographics in the medical scheme sector, showcased Dr Mofokeng’s ground-breaking research in the domain of ethical marketing and its correlation with customers’ demographics in the medical scheme sector. The presentation of this paper on July 12, 2023 captivated the conference attendees, including numerous global scholars, who actively engaged in discussion and shared their perspectives on the topic. 2023 International Business Conference (IBC) A paper by Dr Mofokeng and Mr Steven Mbeya (Marketing Master’s candidate and administrative assistant in the Centre for Applied Data Science) was placed among the top six at the 2023 International Business Conference (IBC). Their paper is entitled Bitcoin adoption intention: Exploring three key factors – hedonic motivation, price value, and habit using the UTAUT2 model.
