22 Department of Information and Knowledge Management team-building The Department of Information and Knowledge Management (IKM) had a strategic planning session that was combined with team-building on 25 and 26 October 2022. The focus of both sessions was on well-being, both departmental and personal. During the session the importance of well-being was stressed, as it plays a key role in the success of the department. Also, with the UJ taking mental and overall health to heart, the IKM staff have jumped on the bandwagon by welcoming the sports day initiative both for health and team-building purposes. This took place on 26 August 2022 at the APB sports grounds. YAEI 2022 Annual Youth Entrepreneurship Expo and more Dr Stella Bvuma, Head of the Department of Applied Information Systems and the eputy Chair of the State Information Technology Agency (SITA) board, was a part of the GovTech 2022 conference hosted in Durban to build government’s relationships with business & the ICT sector on 14 September 2022. Government says it is confident that the ICT sector will be one of the biggest contributors to GDP, after agriculture. Dr Stella talked to SABC Morning Live on digitalisation and digitisation, the growth of GovTech, and the launch of DigiTech, an innovative app store. Watch her interview HERE. The Moses Kotane Institute hosted a Women in Innovation Dialogue on 31 August 2022 with Dr Stella Bvuma as the keynote speaker. Dr Bvuma’s key takeaways from the dialogue were: Be present; Know who you are & exactly what you want; Be accountable; Tap into the spaces of the people in the industry you want to settle in; and Do your research & know how to sustain your findings. Dr Bvuma was invited to be a panel speaker at the Young African Entrepreneurs Institute (YAEI) Annual Youth Entrepreneurship Expo on 7 July 2022, which is a one-week experience to recognise and showcase youth businesses and to attract investment in youth entrepreneurship. The expo took place at the University of the Witwatersrand from 5 to 9 July 2022, and her address focused on digital transformation. On 18 October 2022, Dr Bvuma joined 100+ global technology leaders at The Studio in the iconic Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. Over 100 global technology leaders converged physically and digitally at over 30 round-tables, an exclusive C-Level Networking Green Room, and one-toone interviews, at the largest event for technology leaders.
