The DTE special projects, CAPQP and the CASD support transformation through the creation of contexts in which innovation and transformation work together to achieve outcomes which will impact society, solve current problems, and anticipate the future. Curriculum transformation results in learning programmes which are relevant and contemporary, address the need for graduates to be employable, and respond to contemporary issues in a coherent manner. Enhancements to the development of scholarship in and of African languages have taken root and are bearing fruit. Multi, inter, and transdisciplinarity in learning programmes, research, and curricula provide vehicles for studies which re-envision the questions of the day in new and productive ways. Positive outcomes from professional bodies and the accreditation of new programmes by the CHE give substance to the University’s focus, to the ways in which it meets its strategic goals and make tangible its vision. What is clear to all involved in the curriculum transformation project is that there can be no definable destination, no ‘end’ point at which it is complete. Transformation is iterative and, to be successful, requires consistent adjustment, alignment, evaluation, and readjustment. The inter- and multidisciplinary programmes (MPhil and DPhil) which were accredited by the CHE in 2020 continue to attract interest from academics keen to explore the interstices between disciplines and in which new solutions may be sought.
