CAPQP oversaw the submission of the progress report pursuant to the Doctoral Review Improvement Plan. The CHE Institutional Audit Report was received on 19 October 2023, and work on the development of the improvement plan in response to the recommendations was initiated immediately in preparation for submission in February 2024. CAPQP undertook extensive consultation across the University in the preparation of the responses, and in the provision of the relevant evidence. Internal Programme Reviews Internal programme reviews take place in terms of an STLC-approved process. Programme reviews are workshop-based, which provides for all academics teaching on a programme to engage with each other, whether face-to-face or virtually. Intense conversations about teaching and learning issues at programme level characterise these interactions. In some cases, collaboration at programme level is a rare occurrence as the academic’s focus is usually on their individual modules or disciplines. Although a complete programme review may take between eight and ten months, there is consensus that the process is worthwhile, leading to substantive improvements to programme and programme delivery. “I also found yesterday very interesting. We tend to work in our little bubble and its fascinating to hear other voices from the industry.” Programme review panel member CAPQP continue to offer preparatory support to departments whose programmes were scheduled for review in 2024. CAPQP staff participated at national level in a variety of roles. Contributing to the work of the CHE, for example, as site visit panel chairs, recommendation writers, and as members of reference and working groups (into modes of provisioning – Professor Kirti Menon; and the development of higher education practice standards - Dr Gloria Castrillón). Additionally, CAPQP staff participate and conduct presentations at conferences and publish in quality and policy. In this way, the work of the CAPQP team go beyond the compliance model of the past and is, rather an emphatic and lucid demonstration of what quality means for the University’s staff and students. • Keynote Address: Who’s afraid of the QAF?
