Fifty-five synchronous tutor training sessions were conducted, and 1569 tutors were trained. Tutor training aims to equip tutors with the skills necessary to effectively facilitate student learning. Training serves to professionalise tutor practice and provides sustained support for UJ tutors. Tutors evaluated the training sessions, and their responses are captured below. These evaluations inform practice and ensure that the skills provided are responsive to the learning and teaching needs of UJ students. Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter were utilised to engage tutors and to establish a tutor community of practice. These platforms were used to post training dates, links to important UJ policies, and any other important reminders or information. Through the use of these platforms, we have demonstrated that we promote 4IR and embrace social media platforms which can contribute to learning and teaching.
