Internal Engagement The staff of the Division engage with a wide variety of the University’s stakeholders in the course of their work. In addition, they support to a range of domains in the University. Staff in the DTE are members of the following structures and university activities, and serve on a range of UJ committees, task teams, and working groups, including: • Programme Working Group • Faculty Review Management Committees • Teaching Portfolio assessment Committee (TPAC) • Student Success Committee (SSC) • Steering Committee Online Programmes (SOP) • Steering Committee for Enhancing Academics as Teachers • Senate Teaching and Learning Committee • Senate • When necessary, members make presentations to Faculty boards, and other similar forums. Leadership Footprint In 2022, one of the Directors completed the UJ Women’s Leadership Development Programme, two staff members completed the UJ Emerging Leader - Leadership Development programme, and one staff member is registered for the UJ MPhil in Personal and Professional Leadership. Given that the Division’s activities are aimed at aligning the teaching and learning activities with the University and faculty strategies, the development of leadership capacity at all levels is important. To this end, sessions with each Centre focusing on the development of teamwork and a common vision were also held. Individual coaching sessions for each staff member took place across the year, with additional sessions provided where requested. Given that the Division aligns its activities across the board with the National Framework for Enhancing Academics as University Teachers, it is essential that all aspects of its work support the academic endeavour in all its permutations.
