2022 Annual Report | Division for Teaching Excellence

Monitoring and reporting for NESP The Division is responsible for the coordination and management of the programme at UJ, as well as for providing the necessary support to NESP scholars. The Division organised eight one-on-one check-in meetings in the first and second semesters of 2022 with the four NESP candidates. It was evident during the meetings that the scholars had adapted well and had made commendable progress with respect to their master’s research. All the candidates have been allocated mentors and will have begun engaging in possible areas of specialisation by the end of 2022. As part of the 2021/22 financial year reporting, four NESP audit and narrative reports were compiled and submitted to DHET in July 2022. The submitted reports were evaluated by the DHET and found to be satisfactory and meeting the reporting requirements. Feedback on participating in the NESP I am both grateful and honoured to be part of such a great program. The NESP has given me an opportunity to further my studies with ease and peace of mind. The program has afforded me the time to solely focus on my research without an financial stress. The NESP programme office at the University of Johannesburg has been readily available (even outside formal meetings) for assistance on any mater that needs either serious attention or basic clarification. One of the amazing benefits of being the NESP Scholar is getting an opportunity to choose a mentor of your choice. this has given me an opportunity for my career development to be aided by someone who has achieved prestigious milestones in his career and life. 2022 ANNUAL REPORT: DIVISION FOR TEACHING EXCELLENCE 36
